September 30 to October 2, 2022

Thank you all for coming! The USk San Diego 2022 Seminar was a resounding success:

  • Over 120 attendees, with some coming from as far away as France!
  • 3 hours of instruction and nearly 10 hours of free-range sketching.
  • 12 sponsors contributing to the most bountiful swag bag one could possibly imagine.

The instructors would love to hear your feedback. How can we do better next time? If you have any observations — good or bad — on the Workshops, or even the events in general, please visit the appropriate pages and leave a comment at the bottom.

We hope to see you at upcoming local events, and maybe even the USk 2023 Symposium in Auckland New Zealand!

The USk San Diego 2022 Seminar takes place in “America’s Finest City”, also known as sunny San Diego.

Whether reuniting or meeting for the first time, we will celebrate the core of what urban sketching means by getting together with artists of all ages and skill levels — from near and far — for a weekend filled with activities taking place at multiple iconic San Diego locations:

On Friday evening, we’ll meet at Piazza della Famiglia, one of Little Italy’s most lively and colorful nightspots, for a fun-filled Drink & Draw session.

On Saturday morning, participants will check in at Gallery 21, and then head to the Moreton Bay Fig Tree in Balboa Park. After opening remarks, attendees will gather with their Workshop instructor and head to the designated locations for demo and sketch time. In the afternoon, sketchers will reassemble back at Moreton for a throw-down and group photo. Instead of the self-directed lunch break originally planned, guests should head to Spanish Village to attend the 1:30pm-2:30pm Art Show Reception where refreshments will be provided. After the Reception, participants can explore all the sights the park has to offer in an expansive Sketchwalk, followed by another Moreton throwdown and group photo.

On Sunday morning, we’ll conclude the weekend’s events with another Sketchwalk, this time amidst the piers, promenades, and people of Seaport Village. A final throwdown and group photo at the Embarcadero will send everyone on their way with a full sketchbook and memories of a lifetime.

      Thanks for your interest!

The USk 2022 Seminar was the ”perfect storm” of:

      • . a funding grant from the parent USk organization
      • . generous donations from sponsors
      • . a stellar line-up of instructors
      • . and a lot of tireless work from USk San Diego staff and volunteers

We need some time to catch our breath!

However, we do plan to host some less-taxing events with special guest instructors. Not a full Seminar, but hopefully a series of individual Workshops. Please check the USk San Diego blog or Facebook page for announcements.
